What Is Social Distancing?

Social Distancing requires individuals to allow physical separationfrom one another, particularly avoiding hanging out in large groups of 5+ people. Avoiding group events and socializing spaces is recommended so you can lower your chance of attracting Covid-19 to you & your family. Social Distancing is the best way to fight this pandemic as our Health Care systems cannot support a large amount of affected people and we do not have the resources to battle this spread globally.

How Can I Practice Social Distancing?

The best ways to practice social distancing is as follows:

  • Maintaining at least a 2-metre distance between yourself and other people.
  • Avoiding participation in large gatherings
  • Avoiding public places with large volumes of people as much as possible
  • Using delivery services so you and your family can stay indoors whether it is for food, groceries, etc.
  • Avoid buying food from Restaurants or limiting yourself to take out

Ontario has made attempts to get ahead of this virus by making mandatory closure of all Restaurants dine in options and halting public gathering of 50 people or more. The goal is to be mindful and diligent. The more we practice Social Distancing in the short run, the better it will be for us in the long run.

By keeping your child indoors at their own house, you limit the possibility of this virus spreading. Instead of letting your child sleepover at their friend’s house, take this time to do enjoyable activities indoors with your kids. Also, make sure you and your family keep flossing so when it comes time to see the dentist, your oral health stays as best it can!
