The Ultimate Morning Routine

Being a Dentist you can imagine how important it is for myself and my family to practice good habits daily which align with improving my health. Which is why I decided to write an article which showcases what my morning routine looks like so that you can incorporate it in your daily life as well.

  1. Brushing while Thinking

The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is brush my teeth but not for 10 seconds, rather for 2-3 minutes. I put on my thinking cap and brush each end of my mouth. Rather than putting on your thinking cap in the shower, try to do it when you are brushing and see how it changes your life. Having habits that improve my Oral Hygiene is very important to myself and my family. On a regular day at my clinic in Markham, I see so many of our lovely patients not brushing their teeth like they should be. By taking a few extra minutes and spending time brushing daily, your oral hygiene can become the best it can be. This does mean that you will have less issues to deal with when you book an appointment with your dentist. Save your money, improve your oral hygiene and have that perfect white smile which you desire!

  1. Flossing Daily

Flossing is an essential oral hygiene practice which everyone should follow. Tooth decay and gum disease can easily develop when plaque is builds up on teeth and along the gum line in your mouth. Professional cleaning, tooth brushing, and cleaning between teeth (flossing) have been shown to disrupt and remove plaque. By taking time daily to floss, you get rid of plaque which is built up in hard to reach areas of your teeth. People often have the misconception that flossing isn’t required if you brush properly. Well, cleaning between the teeth removes plaque which can lead to cavities or gum disease from the areas where a toothbrush can’t reach. By setting a routine of brushing and flossing together, you can start living your best life today!

  1. Using a Mouthwash which contains Fluoride

A fluoride mouthwash doesn’t remove plaque, it works to protect your teeth from acids produced by the bacterial plaque. Similarly, when you clean your shoes after they have been dirty, you must apply a coat of waterproofing before you wear them again, right? So what excuse would you have to not do the same for your teeth? Keeping your oral hygiene at its peak is essential and it’s a simple 3 step process which you must adapt to every morning when you wake up. Furthermore, The fluoride component in a mouth wash helps to protect your teeth from cavities by applying an enamel coating on your teeth. This helps keep your teeth fight off bacteria in plaque which can develop in your mouth as the day progresses. Not only is fluoride important for adults but it is even more essential for kids as they go through various cycles with their teeth at a young age. It is important to ensure your gums and teeth are kept clean and are protected! Fluoride also helps prevent and reverse early stages of tooth decay as it strengthens tooth enamel and also recovers teeth which has been damaged by acid by re-mineralizing it.
